Youth Transformation Services® (YTS) NFP

Building Positive
Lifestyle Choices

As a learning partner to schools, we provide products and services through social emotional learning (SEL) to positively impact the family, school, and community alignment in the Chicagoland area and beyond.

About us

Our Vision

In August of 2007, my community was shaken to its core when my youngest son (19 years old) experienced a bipolar blackout that resulted in him violently attacking me (Charisse). Many families are paralyzed by their children’s concerning behaviors, which often result in youth violence.

  • 11.5% of 15,000 children are starting school without the social skills they need to learn or get along with others.
  • 1/5 adolescents suffer from at least one mental health disorders.

OUR VISION

Youth will demonstrate the value of making positive lifestyle choices.

OUR MISSION

YTS empowers youth to eliminate diversity and equity disparities by providing skills and strategies to improve interpersonal communication through responsible use of technology.

OUR CORE VALUES

YTS encourages youth to lead by example and advocate for an equitable, inclusive lifestyle.

SEL is a process through which children and adults adopt the knowledge, attitudes, and skills necessary to understand and manage emotions, set, and achieve positive goals, feel, and show empathy for others, establish, and maintain positive relationships, and make responsible decisions. We build upon the following 5 competencies: self-awareness, social awareness, self-management, relationships, and decision-making. We recognize that SEL skills and good mental health are critical in helping youth to make positive lifestyle choices. Most schools are teaching SEL, but the impact is not producing the desired results. To learn more, please visit SEL Impact.
