Robert Beach

I am a proud alum of Lockport Township High School who placed 8th in the 200 Meter Dash State Finals in 2001. I continued running Division I track at the University of Iowa against top sprinters in the world.  My educational journey began with earning a  Bachelor’s of Arts in History from the University of Iowa. From there, a Master’s of Arts in Teaching from Olivet Nazarene University, Master’s of Arts in School Counseling from Concordia University, and a Master’s of Arts in School Leadership from the American College of Education. Most recently, I was endorsement in EL from the American College of Education.

My career began as a social studies teacher and later as a counselor, SEAC advisor, SEED facilitator, and Learning Success Coach. Today, I serve as  Assistant Principal of Curriculum and Instruction at East Campus of Lockport Township High School. Click on the image to listen to my podcast for future college parents.

As a result of my related services, I remain an active first responder and voice for children and families. Working part time as a therapist and providing mental health services at YTS, completes my mission to help others lead safe and stable lives. YTS is committed to strengthening the connection between family, school and community. I believe the most effective approach to accomplish that goal is to provide direct services that provide balance through Social Emotional Learning (SEL).

SEL is a process through which children and adults adopt the knowledge, attitudes, and skills necessary to understand and manage emotions, set, and achieve positive goals, show empathy for others, establish, and maintain positive relationships, and make responsible decisions.

I see therapy as a team effort, and love helping children, adolescents, and families make progress and reach their goals. In therapy, I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Client-Centered, and Solution-Focused techniques to serve my clients.

I further believe that everyone can accomplish great things through mentoring, counseling, coaching, and mental health intervention support. I participate in collaborations with stakeholders on how to best serve the needs of all students. These collaborations are vital to stay current on trends and best practices.

Fun facts: I love Museums, especially the MSI! And I am a Chicago sports enthusiast: Bulls, Bears, Sox, Cubs, and Blackhawks. I support ALL Chicago teams.
